BISX BOARD TOURS INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES
Members of the Board of Directors of BISX recently travelled to New York and London as part of an international familiarization tour for principals of securities exchanges. The group included Chairman lan Fair, Directors Franklyn Butler, Ken Clowes. and Frank Crothers, BISX Chief Legal Officer Keith Davies and Claude Haylock, Central Bank of The Bahamas.
The trip to New York comprised two days of meetings with a range of institutions with which B5X explored opportunities for developing international relationships and business opportunities for the exchange. Among these institutions were Nasdaq, the fastest growing stock market in the United States, major agency brokers Instinet and Merril Lynch, Bloomberg, the 24 hour financial information network and the New York Stock Exchange.
According to Ian Fair the BW study tour was very productive.
'Not only did we add to our knowledge by observing and learning firsthand from some of the best in the business but we were also able to market BISX to the most influential, potential client and partner organizations in the world," he said.
While in New York, BISX also hosted a cocktail reception for industry representatives at the Hudson River Club, in the World Financial Centre. The reception was attended by 40 senior Wall Street executives from a broad range of organizations, and followed by a dinner for 11 principals of firms visited by BISX.
BISX Chairman Ian Fair, director Franklyn Butler and Chief Legal Counsel Keith Davies continued on to London to participate in the European Exchanges Conference along with senior executives from many of the leading exchanges and related organizations of Europe. The event was chaired by Brian Taylor, Managing Director, BTA Consulting Ltd. in close cooperation with BISX.
